The devastating way Shannen Doherty is preparing for death

Shannen Doherty has shared the heart-breaking way she is preparing for her death.

The former actress, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer, has candidly shared how she is cleaning out her home and downsizing her possessions to make for an “easier transition” for her mum, Rosa, when she dies.

“My priority at the moment is my mum,” the actress said during an episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast. “I know it’s going to be hard on her if I pass away before her.”

She continued, “Because it’s going to be so hard on her, I want other things to be a lot easier. I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture.”

The 52-year-old explained that over the years, she started going through her belongings to get rid of unnecessary clutter and donate things "just in case" anything happened to her.

The actress most recently made a trip to her Tennessee home to pack up her belongings after she decided to let go of her dream of living on the property and fostering horses.

“So we were in Tennessee and I was packing up one of the places there,” she continued. “It was really hard and really emotional because to a certain extent — I felt like I was giving up on this dream of building this property out, and putting a house for me and a house for my mum and then extending the barn.”

“That was one of my dreams,” she said while tearing up.

“I was packing up and I started crying … I felt like I was giving up on a dream and what did that mean for me? Did it mean that I was giving up on life? Did it mean that I was throwing in the towel?"

“And my mom was there and she was like, ‘Don’t get rid of this place, it’s fine. You don’t have to and you can keep going.’ I said, ‘Yeah, absolutely I can.’”

A week later, Doherty returned to the home to pack everything up and relocate her belongings to her home in California.

The actress explained that letting go of the property and other possessions helps “leave behind a cleaner, easier transition” for her family.

Through the process, Doherty has learned her belongings don’t bring her as much joy as making memories with her mum and loved ones.

“It allows me to take more trips because I’m making money, I’m selling it,” she continued. “Then I get to build different memories and I build memories with the people that I love.

“I get to take my mum on vacations because I have all this extra play money lying around and I’m not digging into the money that’s in my estate that’s going to make sure that everybody in my life is taken care of once I’m dead.”

Image credits: Instagram / Getty Images

Shannen Doherty shares "miracle" amid stage four cancer battle

Shannen Doherty has shared a promising update as she continues to battle stage four breast cancer.

The 90210 star shared the positive update during the latest episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, after months of heartbreaking updates and her tough divorce from her husband of 14 years, Kurt Iswarienk.

“I’m on a new cancer infusion and after four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch,” she said during a conversation with her doctor.

“I just kinda was like, ‘we’re going to keep going with this and see.’”

After multiple rounds of treatment, she began to see an unexpected positive development.

“After the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier," she said.

"Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘let’s keep going.’”

“That it’s actually breaking down that blood-brain barrier is actually a miracle of that drug, a miracle of maybe God intervening and being like, ‘I’m gonna give her a break,’” she added.

“Sometimes you’re looking for miracles in all the wrong places and they’re right in front of your face.”

The star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and has been open about her ongoing battle, from her 2017 remission to her 2020 stage 4 diagnosis, which caused the cancer to spread to spread to her bones and brain.

In January 2023 the former Charmed star underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour.

Image: Getty

"Betrayed": Shannen Doherty opens up on tough divorce amid cancer battle

Shannen Doherty revealed it all on the debut episode of her new podcast Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty.

The actress opened up on her tough split from her husband of 14 years, Kurt Iswarienko, after she found out he had been having an affair for two years, while she was battling brain cancer.

She recalled the moment she found out, right before her surgery to remove the tumour in January.

“I went into that surgery early in the morning and I went in after I found out that my marriage was essentially over, that my husband had been carrying on an affair for two years,” she said.

“To not go in that surgery, even though, being very clear, he wanted to go, I couldn’t go into that surgery with him there. I felt so betrayed.”

“At the end of the day, I just felt so incredibly unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart,” Doherty continued, adding that she had her family and friends by her side.

Though the Charmed actress is currently focusing on her health and the future, she did admit that the entire experience has been overwhelming.

“Just to have to go through all of that while trying to figure out if you’re going to get a frickin’ divorce and trying to get to the truth of that,” she said.

She added that she was "obsessed" with finding out the truth of the affair, “through conversations, expecting someone to be honest with me.”

“If you share 14 years together and you cheated, doesn’t that person deserve the absolute truth regardless of how much that hurts them? If they’re the ones asking for it, if they’re the ones saying, ‘Listen, I get it, I may cry, I may get angry, and this may really suck to hear, but I need to hear it because I need closure and this is how I get my closure.’ So I had a lot of months of trying to figure out what I was going to do,” she explained.

She added that the reason why she was trying so hard to make sense of the situation was because she herself does not condone cheating, “If you cheat on me, you’re out," she said.

“Then when someone you really, really love, someone that you regard as your absolute best friend in the world, when you’re lied to and you discover they cheated on you, or they finally tell you they’re cheating on you because they’re riddled by guilt or whatever, I didn’t walk away. I couldn’t. I was so confused.”

She added that the confusion was also a side effect from her surgery as she was undertaking a bunch of medication and steroids to prevent her brain from swelling.

Doherty and Iswarienko tied the knot in 2011 and filed for divorce earlier this year in April.

The actress revealed that she struggled with her decision to file for divorce, and did talk to “girlfriend of two years that he cheated on me with.”

“And honestly, it’s still really hard. Yes, I made the decision to file for divorce, but I have a lot of memories with this person,” she said.

She added that although she takes responsibility for some of the issues in their marriage, she does not take responsibility for the "demise" of it.

“I take responsibility not only because of how I was but because of how cancer impacted my marriage and how it impacted him the second time around," she said.

"I do not take responsibility for the demise of our marriage because I am not a quitter. If somebody is still showing me loyalty and respect and love, I’m going to hang in there. I’m going to try my hardest," she added.

Despite three failed marriages, the actress said that she still believes in love.

Images: Getty

Harry Potter star reveals huge family update

Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter movies, has confirmed he and long-term partner and fellow actor Erin Darke are expecting their first child together.

The couple - who have been together for 10 years - confirmed the news to People through a representative after they were spotted out and about in New York City, with Darke sporting her baby bump.

And as a source told news.com.au, “they have kept it pretty quiet until now but she can’t hide her bump anymore.”

The same source revealed that Radcliffe is thrilled about becoming a father, telling them that “[he] is so excited to be a dad. His relationship with Erin is really special and everyone thinks they will be amazing parents.”

In October, Radcliffe actually spoke to Newsweek about what he wanted for his children, “if and when they exist”, and how he hoped to see him on film sets - something that he may now have every opportunity to experience.

“A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like, 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew;,” Radcliffe explained. "Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids.

“But it's really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs."

Something that Radcliffe and Darke know all too well, with their years working in film and TV. Something the two have experienced together on more than one occasion - as well as starring in Don’t Think Twice, the two also worked together on the third season of Radcliffe's Miracle Workers.

Radcliffe described the latter as something that “was incredibly special and felt lovely”, but wasn’t likely to become something they would do regularly, adding that “we definitely like [working together], but it's not something we want to do all the time.”

The couple met in 2012 while filming Kill Your Darlings, and although they primarily keep their relationship private, Radcliffe has discussed what it was like to first get to know each other, once confessing in an interview that it would be “a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other.

"Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting."

The 33-year-old admitted in another interview that he felt an immediate attraction to Darke, and that “there’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character.

“She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”

Despite the length of their partnership, and multiple rumours that they have gotten engaged - or in more extreme stories, married - Radcliffe’s focus remains on maintaining the strong friendship they’ve forged, especially as they look ahead to their thrilling new chapter.

“I think that’s the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I’m in a relationship with,” Radcliffe explained. “You want that person to be your best friend. In the case of Erin, we definitely are.”

Images: Getty

“Why our union abandons us”: Actress Shannen Doherty publicly shames actor’s union

Actress Shannen Doherty has put all cards on the table during her battle with breast cancer.

The Beverly Hills 90210 star, 51, is undergoing treatment for stage IV breast cancer and took to Instagram to reveal she is struggling to source health insurance coverage as she’s unable to work.

Doherty publicly shaded the actor’s union SAG-AFTRA and its president, The Nanny alum Fran Drescher, saying she has been “abandoned”.

"@officialfrandrescher I'm curious for people like me who have worked since they were 10 and paid dues to @sagaftra how when we aren't able to work for health reasons why our union abandons us," she captioned her post.

"I think we can do better for all our members and I think you're the person to do it. Health insurance shouldn't be based on annual income. It's a lifetime contribution.”

"And for me and many others, we have paid a lifetime of dues to only be cancelled because we don't meet your current criteria. Not ok:, she added.

The actress who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, posted a selfie from hospital while she received IV treatment.”

Drescher was elected president of SAG-AFTRA in 2021 and gave an inspired speech about the union during the 2023 Screen Actors Guild awards.

The union stands for the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. It represents all media performers, including actors, singers, models and journalist, and provides support such as health and pension benefits.

Drescher nor SAG-AFTRA have publicly addressed Doherty’s claims on her Instagram post but several of her Hollywood friends showed their support in the comments.

"Too many of my friends have gone through this – it makes no sense. @sagaftra must do better!!" actress Busy Philipps commented.

"The union is so tough on actors even considering working outside of it, but then completely abandons people when they need the union the most," actor Brian Austin Green wrote.

"This isn't about bad mouthing for me. It's about raising awareness, helping create a conversation and hopefully reaching an end goal of change.”

In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her cancer then returned as Stage IV in 2020, three years after going into remission.

"It's going to come out in a matter of days or a week that — I'm stage IV. So, my cancer came back. And that's why I'm here,” she told Good Morning America. "I don't think I've processed it. It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways."

Doherty has taken on a small number of roles in TV since her diagnosis, most notably in 2019 for the BH 90210 reprisal.

Family kicked off flight for having "noisy" children

A family has been kicked off a flight in the US for having “rowdy” children. Craig Schilling and his wife, Erin Gatling, took to Facebook Live to share their thoughts on the incident in a video that’s gone on to rack up over 40,000 views around the world.

The pair, who live in Los Angeles, were informed by Southwest Airlines that they could not continue on their route home from a family vacation because their children, three-year-old Gunner and 16-month-old Paige, were being too “rowdy”.

Schilling explained that a dozen police officers were brought onto the flight along with a crime dog, simply because his children were being too “noisy” on the flight.

“They did not cry or scream at all during the flight,” Gatling wrote in an Oct. 9 Facebook post.

“My biggest frustration is that no one will tell me what ‘being a disturbance’ means. The only further explanation was ‘running up and down the isle and jumping on tray tables.’ First, we never opened our tray table so jumping on them didn’t occur (though I will admit my oldest has tried to stand on them on previous flights, just not this flight) and we were in the isle only one time.”

Gatling also thinks the fact she let Paige walk solo in the aisle was problematic.

Per her Facebook post, “I got up to take my oldest to the restroom. We sat 3-5 rows from the rear, as always. We walked out of the restroom my husband let my 16 mo old walk to me. Is a baby walking 3-5 isles by herself to her mom not ok????”

But it doesn’t end there. Shilling contends a flight attendant stepped on his wife’s foot, causing her to “cry in pain”.

Gatling explains, “I went to grab (my daughter) and an attendant stepped between me and her, literally stepping on my foot. I said ‘excuse me ma’am, you just stepped on my foot’ and then shrugged it off as I reached around the attendant and picked her up and went to our seats. We never got up again. What the heck is happening?”

When Schilling was accused of “bumping” someone with a stroller that was the final straw and the family which led to his arrest and the family being booted from the flight.

However, he wrote in a comment, “I never bumped anyone with our stroller. I didn’t get out of my seat the whole flight or order any refreshments. The kids were better behaved then usual and nobody from the airline talked to me about anything during the flight.”

Schilling reportedly has a court case in November.

Southwest Airlines responded to the incident with the following statement:

“In addition to providing legendary customer service to each customer onboard, our flight attendants are responsible for enforcing regulations as well as our policies to ensure the safety of those traveling with us. Our reports indicate customers traveling onboard flight 102 were not following inflight instructions.

"A Southwest supervisor met the customers upon arrival at their connecting city, Chicago, to discuss the events that occurred onboard. The customers were unwilling to be approached by our employees in the airport and when the situation escalated, local authorities became involved.”

The statement continues: “We made the decision to issue a refund to the customers based on the reaction to our attempts to discuss safe travel to their final destination. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and employees is of the utmost importance to all of us at Southwest Airlines, and we are disheartened by the way this situation unfolded.”

What are your thoughts? Do you think this is an overreaction from Southwest Airlines? Or are Schilling and Gatling only giving a pretty skewed version of the story?

Have you arranged your travel insurance yet? Then and now: Tabitha Stephens from “Bewitched”

Back in 2015, we got a rare glimpse at what Erin Murphy (who famously played Tabitha Stephens in Bewitched) looks like now. Today, she’s given us an update, posing for photos and chatting with Fox News – and you won’t believe how different she looks from her Bewitched days.

These days, the 52-year-old is a busy mother of six, but reflects fondly on her time on the iconic show, which ran from 1964 to 1972. “[Elizabeth Montgomery] really was like a mum to me,” she tells Fox. “I definitely think of her more like a family member than a co-worker […] We were friends outside of the set and she had three children around my age, so we grew up together. So it was a close relationship for sure.

“I was very lucky because I stayed in touch with people after the show was over, so I had the pleasure of hanging out with Dick Sargent as an adult and having phone conversations with Dick York. As a kid, I was very close with both of them. I grew to admire them as adults because they were such great men.”

Murphy is set to return to screens with a web comedy series titled Life Interrupted, in which she will star alongside a number of other child stars including Alison Arngrim (Little House on the Prairie), Dawn Wells (Gilligan’s Island) and Michael Learned (The Waltons).
